Scoliosis is a condition where the spine is curved from side to side
Scoliosis is a condition where the spine is curved from side to side. It is most commonly found in teenagers as they develop through puberty and can cause pain and discomfort. Though there is no cure, chiropractic adjustments can assist with relief. Here are 4 signs and symptoms of those who have scoliosis.

  1. You have curved posture. If you have an abnormal curvature of the spine, it will start to impact your posture. If you find that you have more of a forward-head posture, or you are losing some of the curve in your neck, you should get checked for scoliosis.
  2. Things feel uneven. Along with your posture, other body parts may appear titled or unleveled. For example, your eyeline may feel tilted, one of your shoulders may sit higher than the other, one leg appears shorter than the other, one hip seems higher than the other, and the list goes on.
  3. Your breathing feels restricted. When your spine is curved, it can take up the space your lungs use to breath. If you feel short of breath, or notice you are not as inclined to participate in physical activity, this could be a sign of scoliosis.
  4. You are experiencing back pain. If you are in chronic back pain, be sure to see a chiropractor or doctor to determine the cause of your problem. As scoliosis advances, the pain can become worse. This may be impacting your mood, ability to participate in social functions, and your overall quality of life.
